About this release
Musique Originale De Films collects Algerian composer Ahmed Malek's soundtrack recordings, combining music from his released work with material from the family archive. Arabic melodies meet jazz harmonies, funk rhythms and bossa nova influences, reflecting the range of his film scores during the 1970s. The selection moves between reflective passages and more rhythmic arrangements, with alternate and previously unreleased versions adding context to familiar pieces. Omar Gatlatou appears in two versions, alongside Tikjda, La Ville and Bolero. Habibi Funk's vinyl edition includes an eight-page booklet, with photographs and background on Malek and Algerian cinema.
