About this release
Seated Records collects eight recordings made between 1980 and 1984 by Stirling band 22 Beaches on ‘Dust’. The programme follows their movement from raw post-punk towards spacious, dub-influenced rhythms and intertwined vocals. The title track places drums, percussion and bass at the centre, while ‘Cartoon Boy’ strips the arrangement back to a persistent bassline and looping guitar. ‘One Of Us’ and ‘Somebody Got It Wrong’ bring jangling guitars and syncopated playing, with ‘Zoo’ and ‘Talent Show’ retaining the energy of the band’s earlier work. Original cassettes were digitised at the National Library of Scotland, with audio restoration by Wheelman.
