De La Soul - Stakes Is High

De La Soul’s fourth album turns its attention to the changing values of hip-hop in the mid-1990s. Stakes Is High pairs the group’s lyrical perspective with production that includes J Dilla’s work on the title track. Common joins The Bizness, Mos Def appears on Big Brother Beat, and Zhané contributes to 4 More. Itzsoweezee (HOT) puts Dave’s voice at the centre of another key selection. First released in 1996, the album combines those collaborations with the trio’s own exchanges across an eighteen-track programme. This Chrysalis reissue spreads the complete vinyl running order across two records.
