About this release
Greg Wilson and Ché Wilson rework two mid-1970s disco recordings on the third GW Edits twelve-inch. ‘Mighty Cloud’ draws on The Mighty Clouds Of Joy’s ‘Mighty Cloud Of Joy’, bringing the gospel group’s vocals and Philadelphia disco rhythm into an extended DJ setting. The source recording came from the group’s sessions at Sigma Sound with producer Dave Crawford and musicians from MFSB. On the reverse, ‘Turnaround’ revisits Vicki Sue Robinson’s ‘Turn The Beat Around’. The pairing connects gospel-rooted disco and percussion-led dance music, with Wilson and Wilson shaping both recordings for their GW/CW series.
