Joy Orbison - Toss Portal
LABEL: Toss PortalMedia Condition: Near Mint
Sleeve Condition: Near Mint
After a relatively quiet few years, Joy Orbison is going through a period of sustained creativity. Following a recent solo outing on the Hingefinger label he runs with Will Bankhead, he's now decided to launch his own label: the fantastically named Toss Portal. It's a predictably varied and eccentric affair. Opener "Rid" is a crackly, metallic roller full of fizzing electronic flourishes, neat percussive touches and a metronomic bassline, while "Walworth Window" sounds like an unheard backing track from Chris Morris' "Blue Jam" radio show. Flip for the broken house hustle of standout "98 Koln", and the meandering, dubbed-put pressure of "Rite Ov".
