About this release
Representing SoCal’s Oxnard—home to Madlib, Anderson Paak, MED, Blu and other—skilled beatsmith Premethius shows and proves on his produder compilation, The Excavation, that he’s worthy of being mentioned among his city's key players. His soulful chops, hard drums, and unrelenting work ethic are among just a few of the reasons as to why he’s the latest signee of MED’s Bang Ya Head imprint. The 17 track effort is a stunning body of work abound with star-studded guest appearances. Homeboy Sandman floats over a soulful piano on “The Times,” which boasts razor sharp cuts by J Rocc (Beat Junkies). Bad Neighbor (BLU, MED) appear on the blunted, “You Know What’s Up,” while Guilty Simpson and Oh-No get things popping with a banger on,”Better Living.”
