About this release
Son Of A Beatnik brings Taxi C.A.B.'s 1994 Chicago house release back through House Jam Records. Produced by DJ Chunk-A-Bud, also known as Adam Malian, the record works with sampled, chopped and repeated elements, drawing on the city's disco-rooted club tradition. Chunk-A-Nova takes the A-side in Red Dog and Shelter mixes, with two corresponding versions of Our Muzik Iz on the reverse. The four-track 12-inch presents the contrasting arrangements together, keeping its emphasis on programmed drums and repeating grooves. This reissue was made with the involvement of House Jam founder Rick Lenoir, preserving the original release's two-track, four-mix structure.
