About this release
Numero Group pairs two recordings from the Universal Togetherness Band’s archive on this seven-inch. My Sentiment finds frontman Andre Gibson working with a more refined version of the Chicago group’s disco and soul sound, with saxophonist Michael Young contributing to the arrangement. The reverse draws on an earlier part of the band’s repertoire: Missing You was a regular opener in their live sets, but its recording only resurfaced when harmonica player Paul Hannover discovered a chrome cassette. Bringing the two performances together connects different stages of the group’s development and the recordings that survived beyond their original live activity.
