About this release
Reel People Music’s ‘Broken, Deep & Dope Sampler 2024’ selects four tracks for a forty-five rpm twelve-inch. Incognito’s ‘Freedom To Love’ appears in Atjazz’s Astro Remix, followed by MrMilkDee and Jill Rock Jones’ ‘2 Positions’ in Sean McCabe’s Cosmos Dub. The reverse pairs Harold Matthews Jr and Sean McCabe’s ‘Metronome’, remixed by Turbojazz, with Kv5 and Kaidi Tatham’s ‘Shook Up’. The selection connects broken-beat rhythms with soulful and deep-house influences, moving through vocal, spoken-word and instrumental elements. It gives the series a concise vinyl programme, with two tracks on each side.
