About this release
Walter Hawkins and Wilderness America’s ‘Metropolis’ sets a song about urban inequality and its effects on young people against a smooth, soulful arrangement. The recording originally appeared on a 1975 charity compilation supporting environmental organisations in California, linking its social concerns to the project’s wider ecological purpose. Déjà Vu Kid pairs it with ‘Before I’m Gone’ for this two-track seven-inch. The release brings the songs into a single format, with redesigned artwork by GNB Studios. Its blend of soul, AOR and folk textures also connects it to the selections associated with Balearic listening.
