About this release
Virgin Ubiquity brings together thirteen Roy Ayers recordings made between 1976 and 1981, drawn from multitrack tapes that had remained in storage. BBE's Peter Adarkwah worked with Ayers to bring the archive to release, revealing different line-ups of his band through the period. Merry Clayton sings on Oh What A Lonely Feeling, I Really Love You and What's The T?, while Carla Vaughn appears on Boogie Down, Mystic Voyage and Together Forever. The programme connects jazz-funk, soul and disco through vocal performances and instrumental arrangements. This BBE double-vinyl edition includes sleeve notes by Sean P and a gatefold sleeve.
