About this release
Habibi Funk's second label compilation follows a personal trail through overlooked recordings from North Africa and the Middle East. Egyptian organ funk, Moroccan disco, Libyan reggae, Lebanese political songs and Algerian soundtrack music all appear, reflecting distinct scenes and artists rather than a single historical genre.
Returning names include Fadoul, Ahmed Malek and Hamid El Shaeri, alongside selections by Douaa, Sal Davis and Ibrahim Hesnawi. The thirteen-track vinyl programme moves from Haditouni to Tony Benn Feghaly's Free Blow dub, making room for the variety of musical approaches behind the label's catalogue. This edition presents the selection across two records.
